The capital of Meghalaya is situated at an altitude of 1496 meters above sea level. It has cool climate throughout the year, and can be visited anytime of the year. However, the period from September to May is advised to be the best time for sight-seeing.  Meghalaya is also home to about 300 known varieties of the 17,000 species of orchids found worldwide. Cherrapunjee, the wettest place on earth is only 56 km away from Shillong. Mawlynnong , the cleanest village in Asia is 90 km from Shillong.

Shillong has a cool climate throughout the year. Temperature varies from 15-23 °C in summers, while in winters it can vary from 3-15 °C.  Shillong is notorious for its unpredictable weather. Our suggestion would be to always keep some warm clothes handy.
